INTRODUCING ONE OF OUR BRAVEST WARRIORS DANI!

Dani was diagnosed with a Desmoid tumor at 2 1/2 years old in her right head/neck/jaw. She has endured multiple procedures and treatments over the past 10 years including several oral and IV chemotherapies, 3 major surgical resections, one jaw reconstruction and 6 weeks of radiation.....to name a few! With all this done in Seattle Children’s Hospital. Her tumor is a rare and complicated tumor and it’s location has made treating it that much more complicated. As a parent, it was heart breaking to receive this diagnosis. There is no “correct” treatment for these tumors. It’s been a trial of choosing what we hoped would give the greatest benefit at the time with the least effects to her. All while attempting to live our “normal” life. Through her journey we have watched her become a strong young woman. She is brave, compassionate, empathetic, smart, silly, sassy....truly a beautiful person.

With the support offered from the BWP with donations during the Santa Photos, we were able to experience the love from our community and decreased stress about the financial burden that came with Dani’s diagnosis and frequency of trips to Seattle. BWP volunteers even showed up at Children’s a couple years later to offer continued support during one of Dani’s treatments. Currently, Dani is 2 1/2 years post radiation with tumor stability! We are even in the early stages of major reconstruction planning with her first surgical step in 1 week.
