Sib Shops: What They Are, and Why They're Important

A couple weeks ago we had the opportunity to go over to Lynwood and take a 2 day Sibshop facilitator course so we could start offering them here at The Brave Warrior Project!

So, what exactly is a Sibshop? Sibshops are fast paced events where siblings get to meet other sibs, have fun, laugh, talk about the good and not-so-good parts of having a sib with special needs, play some great games, learn something about the services their brothers and sister receive, and have some more fun.

Sibshops are not therapy. The Sibshop model focuses on a wellness model. A place where sibs are recognized for their many contributions of being a sib. A place to connect with other sibs!

Our two days at this workshop were uplifting and eye opening. We had the opportunity to participate in a full sibshop facilitated by Emily Holl who is the Director of the Sibling Support Project. To hear the sibs share and play was such a great experience. It really showed why these workshops are important for our sibs!!

We are so excited to be able to facilitate Sibshops here in Wenatchee. We plan to offer 3 this calendar year. Our first Sibshop will be held on June. Stay tuned for date and registration.
